Information for Kids and Parents About the Flu
From School Library Journal: With both the Swine flu and various strains of seasonal flu hitting schools hard these last couple of weeks, it’s definitely time to make sure kids and parents have up-to-date information about how to protect themselves from the flu, how to help stop it from spreading, and what to do if they or a family member comes down with it.
This Web site features content written especially for upper elementary and middle school children. For younger children who may be wondering what the flu is, scroll down and click on “What Are Germs?” Show them “The Latest,” a video of Dr. John Clarke rapping about the flu—very cool!
The “For Parents” tab contains articles and answers to just about every flu-related question or concern they may have. The resources for children and adults are available in both English and Spanish. Please consider printing out key articles in Spanish and making them available to local community groups whose focus is Hispanic families.
